Since its founding in November of 2010, the Ben Osborne Memorial Fund has helped thousands of children in need throughout Warren, Washington, Saratoga and Essex Counties. The Fund will be holding its 14th Annual Baskets for Ben fundraiser on Friday, Oct. 24, at the Queensbury VFW Post 6196, 32 Luzerne Road, Queensbury, New York.
Admission is $20 and includes a buffet of appetizers and desserts donated by local restaurants and served by students in the SUNY Adirondack Culinary program. There will also be a cash bar and door prizes. Doors open at 4:30 p.m. with a silent auction of donated gift baskets. A live auction of baskets and goods will begin at 6 p.m. with auctioneer Roy Ross and Jamie Ross.
Items up for bid include gift baskets filled with art, foods, spirits, crafted goods, golf packages, beauty and spa items, and gift certificates for accommodations, stores and restaurants. Hope Rosati & Friends donated a wheelbarrow full of wine to be raffled. Ben’s Fund merchandise will be available for purchase.
The Ben Osborn Memorial Fund was established to honor the memory of Army CPL Benjamin Osborn, a Lake George graduate, who was killed in Afghanistan in 2010 during Operation Enduring Freedom. The Fund collaborates with school districts to provide children with essential items, including food, clothing, bedding, tutoring, school supplies, eyeglasses, and medical care.
Ben’s Book Stations throughout the area provide children with free books, and during the holiday season, the Fund provides food and gifts for families in need.
The Ben Osborn Memorial Fund is a 501 (c)(3) organization and fully operates with volunteers, incurring no administrative costs. Baskets for Ben is sponsored by Froggy 100.3 and stations of Adirondack Broadcasting of Glens Falls and Look Media Resource.
