The Canadian Pacific Kansas City Holiday Train is returning to Upstate New York, bringing lighted trains and music as the holiday season gets underway. This is the 27th year for the program that collects food and money to support community food banks.
“Every year, our railroaders take great pride in bringing the Holiday Train across our network, this year reaching even more communities for the first time,” says CPKC President and CEO Keith Creel in a press release. “We are thrilled to send this beautiful train filled with lights and music to spread the joy of the season and proud to support the giving spirit of the holidays, assisting people experiencing food insecurity. It’s incredible to see communities come together every year to celebrate the holidays while supporting local food banks.”
The public is invited to meet the train as it makes its way north with stops through the region. The 2025 Holiday Train is not scheduled to stop in Saratoga Springs as the train has in the past; however, a stop in Menands has been added to the schedule.
At each stop in the North Country, Brittany Kennell and Tyler Shaw will perform. The concerts are free to attend. CPKC asks attendees to bring food or cash donations to help stock local food pantries. A local food bank will be on site at each stop to accept donations. Those attending are urged to contact their local food bank to learn what food items are most needed this year. All donations will remain in the community.
The 2025 Holiday Train is featuring a special tribute light display to honor the legacy of “Rudy,” part of the retiring Kansas City Southern Holiday Express that ran for 23 years across the Southern United States.
