Fort William Henry is presenting a weekend of living history Sept. 18 – 21, 2025, to commemorate the 270th Anniversary of the Battle of Lake George. Throughout the weekend, visitors can walk through an authentic military encampment and interact with reenactors portraying soldiers, officers, and camp followers. Saturday and Sunday will feature battle and artillery demonstrations.
Guest speaker Scott Haefner will kick off the events on Thursday, Sept. 18, with a talk entitled “Defense in Depth: Sir William Johnson and the Security of the Northern Frontier.” Haefner’s presentation will begin at 7 p.m. in the Fort William Henry Conference Center, 46 Canada Street, Lake George. Admission is free.
Friday, Sept. 19, the Fort is screening “The Last of the Mohicans” in an immersive event that brings the film to life with reenactments, musket and cannon fire. The movie will be shown on the Parade Grounds inside the fort. Doors open at 6 p.m.; movie starts at 7:15 p.m. Tickets are $20 for adults, $15 for children younger than 16, $18 for students ages 15-21 and seniors age 62 and older.
Tickets may be purchased online at the fort’s Event page. This is an outdoor event. Attendees are encouraged to dress for the weather and bring a blanket or camp chair for seating. Refunds will be issued in the event the movie is rained out.
On Saturday and Sunday, the encampments, Fort, and Battlefield Park Visitor Center will open at 9:30 a.m., with battle reenactments in Battlefield Park scheduled for 1:15 p.m. on both days.
