Jamo’s Pub celebrates Grand Opening with ribbon-cutting

“Jamison Duffy is no stranger to Lake George hospitality,” says Katie Sheehy, Lake George Regional Chamber of Commerce & CVB Membership Manager. “Many of you know him, and if you don’t yet, then you will soon.” Sheehy was speaking at a ribbon-cutting ceremony held Friday morning at Jamison Duffy’s new enterprise, Jamo’s Pub.

The Irish pub is in the heart of Lake George Village on the corner of Canada Street and Christie Lane. “This is something that I’ve always wanted to do growing up, working for my family’s business, Duffy’s Tavern,” Duffy says. “It’s always been a dream of mine to have my own place. I’m very excited to be here.” Duffy’s Tavern, which opened nearly 50 years ago, is considered a Lake George institution by many.

Jamo’s Pub held a soft opening in May, and Duffy says the business has been great. “Everybody’s been really excited about the food variety. [We’re] having a ton of repeat business, … Not the regulars that I brought from other places, there are new faces, new regulars coming in, which is awesome too. The late-night crowd has been really awesome as well. Everybody’s been really excited about having food available at 2:00 in the morning on Friday and Saturday.”

The menu includes appetizers, sandwiches and traditional Irish entrees. Duffy says his Irish nachos have been very popular. The menu describes Irish Nachos as “Crispy potato rounds, Guinness beer cheese, crumbled bacon, pickled jalapenos and corned beef.” Duffy also personally recommends the Shepard’s Pie entrée.

The pub has indoor seating and outdoor seating on a deck overlooking Lake George. Duffy says they will be open in the winter — “Probably not seven days a week, but we’ll be here.”

At the ribbon-cutting, Sheehy said they were there today not only to celebrate a new business, they were also there to recognize a local success story. “Jamo’s Pub is already making a name for itself with great food, great drinks, and laid-back atmosphere … It’s the kind of place that brings people together.”
