Registration has opened for the Lake George Association’s CleanUp Day. The annual event will be held on Sunday, September 14, from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Lake George CleanUp Day gives volunteers a way to give back to the lake by collecting trash and debris that has accumulated along the shoreline, in parks and public spaces around Lake George.
“CleanUp day is a powerful reminder of the impact we can have when community comes together in a shared mission,” says Danielle Brown, LGA development Manager. “You can see what a special place Lake George is and that there is a real culture of lake protection embedded in the region.”
All ages are welcome. Register as an individual or team online at the LGA Lake George CleanUp Day 2025 webpage. The clean-up zones stretch along the shore between Lower Amherst Street to the north and Lake George (Million Dollar) Beach to the south and along West Brook by Charles R. Wood Park.
Lakefront homeowners may also participate by sharing photos of their cleaning-up efforts along their piece of the shore and dock. To share, post photos to Instagram and Facebook using the hashtag #LGCleanUpDay.
Sign-in runs from 9 to 9:30 a.m. at the MacDonald Pier in Shepard Park. Volunteers will be asked to sign a waiver at sign-up. The first 100 volunteers will be provided with t-shirts courtesy of the Lake George Beach Club. The LGA encourages people to register by September 10, as this will help with planning.
Clean-up activities will be held between 9:30 a.m. and 12 p.m. Organizers will provide trash removal and safety supplies such as gloves. Volunteers are asked to dress appropriately with closed-toed shoes, hats and layers of clothing needed based on the weather. Water will be offered, but volunteers are welcome to bring their own drinks and snacks.
Volunteers are advised to only pick up disposable or recyclable litter. Do not pick up items that may present a health hazard, such as syringes, needles, weapons, or deceased animals. The Warren County Sheriff’s Dive Team will be leading an underwater cleanup during the cleanup time. Waste Connections is sponsoring this event and will pick up all collected trash on the Monday morning following Lake George Clean Up Day.
At noon, the Lake George Beach Club will host a free cookout. Volunteers may park along West Brook Road or in the Beach Road parking lot for the event.
