Registration opens for Kelly’s Angels Mother-Lovin’ 5K

The Annual Mother-Lovin’ 5K Run/Walk is returning to Saratoga Spa State Park for its 14th year on Mother’s Day, Sunday, May 10. The event is a major fundraiser for Kelly’s Angels. Online registration is now open for in-person and virtual participation.

“We would love for you and your friends and family to join us for a morning of fun for a great cause,” says Kelly’s Angels founder Mark Mulholland in a press release. “Our annual 5k has been bringing families together for 14 years. It is so much more than a walk or run in the park.”

Kelly’s Angels, now in its 16th year, provides grants to benefit New York Capital Region children who have lost a parent or primary caregiver to cancer or other illnesses.  NewsChannel 13 Anchor Mark Mulholland founded the charity to honor his wife, Kelly, who lost her battle with cancer in 2007, leaving behind their two young children. Since its founding, Kelly’s Angels has provided thousands of dollars in scholarships and grants to area children and their families.

The Mother-Lovin’ 5K event begins at 8:45 a.m. with a free Kids’ Fun Run. Children ages 9 and younger will race towards the finish line with their parents rooting them on. The 5K begins at 9:15 a.m. Access the course map here.

The morning’s events includes an auction of donated items, including restaurant gift certificates, wine, and gift baskets. There will be food, music, raffles, and complimentary treats.

For those who cannot join in person, there is a virtual race option. Virtual racers may choose their own 5K route anytime over Mother’s Day Weekend and share selfies of their efforts on the Kelly’s Angels Facebook gallery with the hashtag #MLVirtual5K.

Entry fee is $40 through May 9; $45 on the day of the race. The first 1,000 entrants are guaranteed a T-shirt (virtual participants do not receive a T-shirt). New for the 2026 race, Hoffman Car Wash is offering a free car wash to each registrant.  The top finishers across eight age groups will win awards.

Kelly’s Angels, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit. Donations to the organization are tax-deductible under IRS guidelines.
