A Gathering of Adirondack Artisans to feature demonstrations

The Warrensburgh Riverfront Farmers’ Market will be holding its annual A Gathering of Adirondack Artisans event this Friday, August 12, from 3 to 6 P.m. at the Riverfront Park on River Street in Warrensburg (across from Curtis Lumber.) The artisan fair will feature “Made in the Adirondacks” handcrafted goods including unique jewelry, pottery, cutting and charcuterie boards, woven and fabric crafts, rustic pieces, birch bark basketry and handcrafted Adirondack boats.

Artists Kaena Peterson, Mechelle Roskiewicz and Jeffrey Fiato will demonstrate painting techniques; Serendipity Spinners will show market visitors how fibers are spun into yarn and Linda O’Neal and Holly Fortin will demonstrate their jewelry-making techniques. See how traditional Native American Craftwork Dream Catchers are woven by Sheila Weaver; Learn how birch bark is used to make decorative and functional containers by Mark Catman and talk to Adirondack boat builder John Homer to learn how his boats are constructed.

Other crafters participating in this year’s event are Sheila Weaver of Seeds of Wisdom by Sheila, Country Creations by Victoria Lehet, Mark Catman’s Birchcraft, Holly Fortin of Bluebird Moon Creations, Nathanial Horn of Broken Horn Relics, Victoria Whitney of The North Granville Pottery Company, and others.

A Gathering of Adirondack Artisans will also include book signings by local authors, the sale of cream pies with Girl Scout cookie crusts by Troop 3611, and free children’s crafts. Live music will be performed in the gazebo by Courtly Music Unlimited.

Market vendors include Adirondack Gold Maple Farm, Adirondack Harvest (formerly Caldwell Country Farm), Calico Corner, Coffee with a Cause (Pastor Aaron Spoonhour of the First Baptist of Warrensburg), Cover Your Sass Boutique, Dawn’s Delights, For the Love of Rocks, Glens Falls Distillery, High Peaks Flower Farm, Hilton Family Farm Stand, Nettle Meadow Cheese Farm, North Country Microgreens, Springbrook Hollow Farm Distillery, Sulla Terra Bakery, and Trillium Farm.

 
Market shoppers will have the opportunity to purchase (and in many cases sample) artisan cheeses and breads; locally grown produce, maple syrup, raw honey and roasted coffee; local chicken and duck eggs, marinades, pickles, desserts, distilled beverages, fresh and dried herbs, fresh cut flowers and perennials, handmade soaps and more.
