Pumpkin Chunkin’ returns to Lake George with flying squash and medieval battles

The Adirondack Pub & Brewery’s Pumpkin Chunkin’ fall festival returns to Lake George on Saturday, Nov. 7, from noon to 4 p.m. The free event takes place in the brewery’s event field behind the High Peaks Distilling parking lot at 1 Canada Street, Lake George. This is an outdoor, rain-or-shine, family-friendly festival.

The Annual Pumpkin Chunkin’ began in 2016 as a pumpkin catapult competition using Halloween Jack-o’-lanterns, and flinging pumpkins through the air continues to be an event highlight, along with apple slingshots and a giant pumpkin drop.

The event has grown to become a unique fall festival that includes a medieval village with a blacksmith forge, battle demonstrations, dancing witches, carnival rides and inflatables, live music, and a Potions Bar offering handcrafted drinks, both with and without alcohol. This year’s Pumpkin Chunkin’ will include a Viking encampment.

More than three dozen vendors and entertainers will be on the grounds, including food trucks, artisan food vendors, and arts and crafts. Attendees are encouraged to bring their Halloween Jack-O’-lanterns to add to The Great Pumpkin Drop, the Pumpkin Chunkin’ Grand Finale.

“Where else can you make your own magic wand, visit a Viking Village, watch a medieval battle, try a magic potion, shop unique vendors, and enjoy an afternoon of free live entertainment — plus send off your Halloween pumpkins in style?” asks John Carr, owner of Adirondack Pub & Brewery.
