Christmas in Warrensburg brings a full weekend of holiday fun

The streets of Warrensburg will take on the feel of a Hallmark Channel Christmas movie this weekend, Saturday, Dec. 1 and Sunday, Dec. 2, as the town celebrates its 30th Annual Christmas in Warrensburg. The old-fashioned, town-wide holiday celebration features horse-drawn wagon rides, visits with Santa, church bazaars, children’s activities, craft fairs, open houses and tree lighting with caroling.

Saturday Schedule

Toyland at the Emerson Town Hall

  • Visit with Santa 10 a.m. – 12 p.m. &1 p.m. – 3 p.m.
  •  Live Reindeer –10 a.m. – 3 p.m.
  •  Face Painting, Gingerbread House Decorating; Children’s Holiday Crafts; Miniature Watercolor, Origami, Polymer Clay Flower Blossom and Evergreen Swag Workshops; Wreath Making Demonstrations, Breakfast & Lunch, Baked Goods, Live Music by Warrensburg Elementary Chorus at1 p.m. All Workshops are free.

Christmas Tree Lighting ceremony

The ceremony begins at 6 p.m. at the bandstand in the center of town. Decorating and caroling by area Girl Scouts and Cub Scout Pack 6031. Music will be performed by the Warrensburg Elementary Band.  Santa will arrive to light the town tree. Following the tree lighting, movies, popcorn, cookies and hot chocolate will be offered at the First Baptist Church (across the street from the bandstand.)

 Holiday Craft Fair
Warrensburg Elementary School, 10 a.m. – 3 p.m.

This free craft fair features local and regional artisans selling handmade crafts, pottery, jewelry, gourmet chocolates, photography, children’s toys and more. Lunch and baked goods will be offered by Dawn’s Delights. Visit with Santa, Noon – 3 p.m., face painting by Megan Pierce, Children’s Craft Workshop with Megan Reynolds and Holiday Decorating on a Budget (11 a.m.- 1 p.m.) with award-winning Designer John Cleveland. Live Music by Mac Petrequin and Dick Sausville and Warrensburg JSHS Holiday Band.

Free horse-drawn wagon rides and pony rides by Adirondack Carriage leave from Emerson Town Hall on Saturday and the Warrensburg Elementary School on Sunday, 11 a.m. – 3 p.m.

The Warrensburg Museum of Local History will open its “20th Century Toys” exhibit Saturday, Dec. 1. The exhibit is a collection of the most popular toys from the early 1900s to 1999. Many are on loan from community members. The new exhibit and the “Dressed for the Holiday” exhibit will be open for viewing Saturday and Sunday, December 1 and 2 from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. Admission to the museum is free.
