January

New Year’s Day Polar Plunge

The traditional Lake George New Year’s Day Polar Plunge returns to Shepard Park Beach. The cost to join the plunge is $20. All funds benefit Shriners Hospitals for Children, Lake George Volunteer Fire Department and other fire companies that help with the event. Long-sleeve Polar Plunge shirts will be available for $15.

Plungers will enter the lake in waves of 400 with the first plunge scheduled for 1 p.m., the second plunge at 1:15 and the third plunge at 1:30 p.m. Register at Duffy’s Tavern, Lower Amherst Street beginning Dec. 31, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Jan.1 beginning at 10:30 a.m. For more information, contact Duffy’s at (518)668-5323 or (518)361-2559.

Winter Realms

The artists of Ice Castles have created a winter wonderland at the Festival Commons with lighted walkways, ice sculptures, warming stations and an outdoor ice-skating rink. The attraction is open six nights a week through March 3, 2024. Ticket prices start at $17 for adults and $14 for children ages 4-11 years. Children aged 3 and younger are free.

Lake George Winter’s Dream

A multimedia experience that uses light, images, music, sound effects and projections to invoke the sensations of a winter night. Six installations immerse visitors in a dream-like world of swirling snow, glittering ice, towering forests and glowing full moons.

Winter’s Dream will be open through March 31, 2024. Hours are sunset to 10 p.m. The attraction is open five days a week, closed Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Ticket prices start at $23.90 for adults, $19.90 for children ages 4-12, $21.90 for seniors ages 65+. Children aged 3 and younger are free. Tickets are available online at wintersdream.ticketspice.com. Ticket purchases include a discount savings passport that offers discounts at area attractions, lodging, restaurants and shopping.

Henry & Lucy Knox and the Ticonderoga Expedition”

A free program presented by historian and author Dr. Phillip Hamilton will explore Knox’s letters to his wife that give details of transformative events of the American Revolution including the transport of artillery from Ticonderoga to Boston during the winter of 1775-76. The program is sponsored by the Lake George Battlefield Park Alliance and the Warren County Commission for the 250th Anniversary of the American Revolution. February

Lake George Winter Carnival
Every Saturday and Sunday in February
Headquarters in Shepard Park

The 2024 Lake George Winter Carnival opens Saturday, February 3 with Opening Ceremonies in Shepard Park at noon. Opening Day parade steps off at 4 p.m. and travels up Canada Street.

The Lake George Winter Carnival includes races (on the ice if the Lake is frozen), cook-offs, children’s activities, bonfires, fireworks, dog talent shows, polar plunges and much more. Craft beverage producers from across the Northeast will be offering samples of barrel-aged beverages. The standard ticket includes entrance, souvenir tasting glass, beverage sampling, fireworks, music, dancing, food stations and free snacks. VIP Tickets include all standard ticket access plus a free brunch special served 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. and a 22oz. bottle of limited edition beer. The festival features a multi-story bonfire to keep everyone warm.

French & Indian winter warfare reenactments combined with a sutlers fair, crafts and brew fest featuring local craft beverages. Reenactor groups from several historical periods will be on hand to discuss battle reenactment. Dr. Steven C. Eames will present a lecture titled “Warfare on the Colonial Frontier.”

Community Days

This two-day block party features live entertainment, family activities and an outdoor food court on Montcalm Steet. Most activities are free. St. James Episcopal Church, United Methodist Church and Caldwell Presbyterian Church will be open with arts and crafts fairs and food sales. Community Days is sponsored by the Town and Village of Lake George, Lake George Radio, several merchants and the Lake George Regional Chamber of Commerce.

Memorial Day Parade
Saturday, May 25

The Lake George American Legion Post Memorial Day parade steps off from West Brook Road at 11:30 a.m. and travels to Shepard Park. The parade is followed by a service at the Veterans Memorial in Shepard Park.

The summer music festival season in Lake George kicks off with the Memorial Meltdown festival. Improv Records, producers of the Adirondack Independence Music Festival, brings a lineup of regional touring jam bands to the Festival Commons for two days of music.

Wine enthusiasts, craft beverage aficionados and foodies from around the Northeast and Canada come to Lake George for the annual Adirondack Wine & Food Festival. Admission includes a wine glass to sample wines, beers, spirits and ciders from dozens of local producers. Enjoy free samples of artisan foods. Rock the Dock Music Festival

A line-up of local jam bands perform on the pier at the head of Lake George.  Rock the Dock includes food, beverages and merchandise vendors. Attendees enjoy the music from the pier or the decks of the Steamboat Company’s ships. Check back for lineup and ticket information.

Community bands from across the Northeast and Canada perform at this festival hosted by the Lake George Community Band. This is the largest band festival of its kind in the Northeast. Admission is free. Check back for a schedule and band lineup.

Summer Loving Fun Fest

This three-day festival features non-stop live music, craft vendors, bounce houses, food trucks, and a beer and wine tent. All proceeds benefit Kelly’s Angels, Inc., a local organization that helps children who have been affected by cancer and other life-threatening conditions. Campsites in local campgrounds fill quickly this weekend, so those planning on pitching a tent may wish to book their space early.

Adirondack Nationals Car Show

The Adirondack Nationals Car Show brings more than 1,500 lovingly restored vintage autos, muscle cars and other pre-1972 vehicles to Lake George. The show is headquartered at the Fort William Henry Hotel. Entered vehicles and more than 250 vendors set up on the hotel grounds and at the Festival Commons in Wood Park. A highlight of the show is the Friday and Saturday night Car Crusin’ when owners of registered vehicles drive a continuous loop through Lake George Village to a cheering crowd. Car show registration opens Feb. 1, 2024.

World’s Largest Garage Sale

What began more than 40 years ago as a town-wide yard sale has grown to a fall celebration with food and flea market vendors, arts and crafts producers, antique dealers, and church bazaars stretching along Main Street in Warrensburg. More than 100 residential yard sales fill the town’s neighborhoods. The annual sale, organized by the Warrensburg Chamber of Commerce,  attracts tens of thousands of bargain hunters each year to enjoy the festival atmosphere and fall foliage.
