CP announces 2017 Holiday Train schedule

It has become a much-anticipated event that kicks off the holiday season with lights, music and the thrill of a 14-car locomotive. The CP Holiday Trains will leave Montreal on November 25 and travel through the U.S. and Canada for its 19th season. Along the way, the trains will collect food and monetary donations to benefit food pantries in the communities they visits.

The Holiday Train is decorated with thousands of colored LED lights and features a special open freight car stage. This year, Jim Cuddy and his son Devin will perform along with Kelly Prescott on the Upstate New York run.

“The Holiday Train program is all about local food banks and food shelves and the critical role they play in our communities,” says CP President and CEO Keith Creel. “People come for the beautifully-lit train and stay for the incredible show – all in the name of community. The holiday season is the best time of the year, and we look forward to bringing together thousands of Canadians and Americans this season for this incredibly important cause and a great time.”

Spectators are asked to bring heart-healthy food donations to the station, including whole-grain products, canned fruits and vegetables, canned meat and fish, peanut butter and canned or dried beans. CP advices fans to check with their local food pantry to learn if they are able to accept fresh produce.

The U.S. train will stop in Mechanicville and Saratoga Springs on Sunday, Nov. 26 and Fort Edward, Ticonderoga, Port Henry, Plattsburgh and Rouses Point on Monday, Nov. 27.
