The 2026 Canadian CPKC Holiday Train will pass through Upstate New York on Wednesday, Nov. 25 and Thursday, Nov. 26 (Thanksgiving Day). The train, brightly lit with LED holiday lights, will make six stops in the area, collecting donations to support local food banks.
“Our railroaders take great pride in bringing the Holiday Train through hundreds of communities across our network to support people facing food insecurity,” says CPKC President and CEO Keith Creel in a press statement. “Through the generosity of the thousands of families and fans who come out to see the Holiday Train and support local food banks, whether for the first time or as part of a long-running holiday tradition, we can spread the joy of the season and support the giving spirit of the holidays.”
At each New York stop, musicians American Authors and Rafaëlle Roy will perform live music from the open stage car. The show is free to attend. CPKC encourages guests to bring non-perishable food items or cash donations to support their local food pantries. All donations benefit local organizations.
“The CPKC Holiday Train is one of the most special events of the holiday season! Not only are the lights and music spectacular, but it brings people together to give back to their communities and support friends, family, neighbors and those in need,” said Zac Barnett of American Authors. “We feel so fortunate to take part in the celebration that makes such a meaningful impact.”
This is the 28th year for the Holiday Train program. Since 1999, the train has collected more than $28 million and nearly 6 million pounds of food.
