‘Fort Fright’ haunted house experience coming to Fort William Henry this fall

Even on a warm and sunny summer day, Fort William Henry can be creepy. The reconstructed fort at the head of Lake George sits on the footprint of the original 1755 structure. The grounds have seen war, disease, and massacre, leaving no doubt among those sensitive to paranormal activity that ghosts wander within the fort’s walls. This fall, Fort William Henry is introducing Fort Fright, a haunted house experience for those seeking autumn thrills and chills.  

The Fort Fright walk-throughs will be held on select Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays beginning Sept. 24 and running through Oct 11.

Described by organizers as an “Immersive haunted experience where history and horror collide,” guests will travel through rooms transformed with lighting, sound, atmospheric effects, and live scare actors. Fort Fright draws on the Fort’s architecture and history to create a haunted experience rooted in legends, stories, and events surrounding the historic site.

Before or after the haunted walk-through, guests may gather at a campfire in the Fort’s Courtyard where cider, donuts, s’mores, and drinks will be available for purchase. The experience also offers Mini Paranormal Investigations that will be available as an add-on or separate experience throughout Fort Fright evenings.

2026 Fort Fright Dates

• Thursdays, 6-9 p.m.: September 24; October 2, 9, 16, 23 and 30
• Fridays, 6-10 p.m.: October 3, 10, 17 and 24
• Saturdays, 6-10 p.m.: September 26; October 3, 10, 17 and 24
• Sunday, 6-10 p.m.: October 11

The Fort Courtyard will open at 5:30 p.m. Haunted experiences will begin at 6 p.m. Tickets are coming soon and will be availableat the Fort William Henry website.

The Fort is currently offering Hands-On Paranormal Investigations each Monday and Tuesday through September 8, with two sessions each evening at 7:30 and 9 p.m. Experienced investigators will train guests in the techniques used to explore paranormal activities, including the use of investigative tools. This event is recommended for guests ages 12 and older. Tickets for the Paranormal Investigations may be purchased online.
