CP Holiday Train 2019 New York schedule released

The 14-car CP Holiday Trains, decked out with thousands of colorful LED lights, will embark on their annual journeys from Montreal on Nov. 25 and 26. The U.S. bound train will make it’s first New York stop in Menands on the 26th followed by stops in Mechanicville, Saratoga Springs, Fort Edward, Port Henry, Plattsburgh and Rouses Point.

This year’s train will be carrying Canadian folk-rock musician Alan Doyle who is performing with the Beautiful Band. They will be entertaining the crowds at each stop from the train’s open stage car. Holiday Train 2019 marks the 21st year for the program that brings thousands to area train depots across the U.S. and Canada to kick off the holiday season.

Spectators are encouraged to bring “heart healthy” food donations to the train. Since its inaugural journey in 1999, the Holiday Train program has collected 4.5 million pounds of food, which fills food pantries in communities along the train’s route. Holiday Train fans may follow the train on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.

Access to nutritious food is a basic necessity, and food bank usage is on the rise across North America. The CP Holiday Train program is our way to help in the fight against hunger by growing awareness of this issue and providing a fun and engaging way for the public to show their support.” – Keith Creel, CP President and Chief Executive Officer

Suggested food donations include whole grain breads, crackers and cereals; canned fruits and vegetables, milk products, canned meat and fish, peanut butter and canned beans. Canned and jarred goods labeled reduced sodium are preferred.
