Lake George Ice Castles announces opening date

The Ice Castles attraction at the Festival Commons in Lake George will open for the season Monday, February 6 at 4 p.m., Ice Castles announced in a Saturday press release. Originally, Ice Castles had planned to open in January, but unusually warm temperatures hindered castle construction.

Ice Castles, which drew 80,000 visitors last winter, is an interactive experience of ice tunnels, fountains, towers, caves and slides lit with LED lights. For the 2023 attraction, Ice castles has added a Lighted Walk along the exterior of the Ice Castles and a Polar Ice Bar that will serve specialty alcoholic drinks. Although Ice Castles will not be open until Feb. 6, the Polar Bar and Lighted Walk will be open to the public free of charge February 3-4, which is also opening weekend for the Lake George Winter Carnival.

After the Ice Castles opening, the lighted Walk and Polar Pub will be available to ticket holders.

“We’re excited to finally announce our opening day in New York,” says Ice Castles CEO Kyle Standifird, “Mother Nature has thrown us a few challenges this season, which delayed our opening. While winter doesn’t always come on our schedule, we’re thankful that it does come eventually.”

Ice Castles will remain open through the end of February and possibly into March if the weather remains cold. Tickets may be purchased online at the Ice Castles website. Residents of the Town and Village of Lake George may purchase discounted tickets for $5 to attend on Mondays, 4-9 p.m., excluding holidays and breaks. Local discount tickets are available for purchase at the on-site ticket office on designated locals’ days.

  1. My Question is, Why this year only local LG Resident get discount tickets on every Monday’s. Being an At Large Supervisor for Queensbury and being at the OCC meeting s and other Committee meetings this was not what was discussed. County widow OCC Tax was given to help promote and help with Expenses for the Ice Castles which we are so happy to do and is a wonderful along with successful event at the park. Since it is every Monday the thinking was less of a surge of resident showing up for the saving and like all to attend that wish. Last year I know it was cut off and residents turned away for there were to many people and for safety reasons. This year that is why I thought \they were going every Monday to spread it out. I feel the Ice Castles should honor all Warren County Residents on Mondays with pre-ticket purchase to control crowd and keep safety first. This was brought up at the last Board Meeting and was going to past on to Ice Castle, but I see it may have been over looked or not heard. Monday I will follow through on what happened.
    Thank you,
    Supervisor Magowan QBY
