Jamboree to feature auction, midway rides, live music and fireworks

The Warrensburg Recreation Field will be transformed into a carnival this Friday, July 29 and Saturday, July 30, for the Warrensburg Volunteer Fire Company’s Smoke Eaters Jamboree. This is the 54th year for the event, which brings out residents from Warrensburg and surrounding communities to enjoy the amusements, socialize with friends they may not have seen since the last Jamboree and to support the Warrensburg Fire Company.

Gates open Friday at 6 p.m. with the night’s main event, an auction of donated goods, starting at 6:30. The auction is known for its wide variety of items put on the block along with a dose of firefighter humor. It’s an opportunity to pick up gift cards from local businesses on the cheap and bid on merchandise ranging from motor boats to bags of fertilizer. Used furniture, household goods and tools are regularly featured at this auction.

New this year, After – FX DJ Service will be hosting Karaoke on Friday night with participants vying for cash prizes. Green Mountain Amusements is providing the midway rides and games. Firefighters will be spinning roulette wheels and hosting other games of chance for the gamblers. Entertainment for children will be provided by Freckles the Clown and the Incredible Larry.

On Saturday, the gates open at 5 p.m. when the firefighters will begin to serve up their renowned barbecued chicken dinners. Saturday’s entertainment includes After-FX DJ Service, Rosco the Clown and Joey D Magic Show. The Audiostars take the stage at 6:30 p.m. The evening is capped off with a large fireworks display.

Entrance donation for Friday is $3; Saturday’s entrance donation is $5. Parking is free. The Warrensburg Recreation Field is located on Library Avenue in Warrensburg, New York.
