Lake George Ladies Auxiliary Basket Day fundraiser returns

The Lake George Volunteer Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary’s Annual Basket Day is returning, live and in-person, Nov. 7, 2021. The popular event was canceled last year due to the pandemic. Basket Day features more than one hundred donated baskets that attendees may bid on Chinese-auction style. In addition, the Auxiliary is holding several special raffles including a lottery board with scratch-off tickets and cash, a hand-carved wooden bear and a 50-50 raffle. Attendees can also enjoy an array of desserts at the event.

Attendance this year is limited to 185 people. Tickets must be purchased in advance. They will be sold at the Lake George Fire House, 179 Ottawa Street, Lake George, on Oct. 23, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. or until sold out. In recent years, tickets have sold out within a few hours. Admission tickets will not be sold on the day of the event.

Admission tickets are $10 each and include a sheet of 25 chances to bid on baskets. Additional sheets of tickets may be purchased at the event for $5 each. There is a limit of four admission tickets per person. The Auxiliary accepts cash and checks made out to the LGFD Ladies Auxiliary.

This is the 14th year for the event, which raises several thousand dollars each year. Funds raised at the Auxiliary Basket Day support the organization’s Community in Need program. The program helps families dealing with loss from fire, illness, death and other misfortunes. The Ladies Auxiliary also awards two scholarships to graduating seniors at Lake George High School.

Basket Day 2021 will be held at the Holiday Inn, 2223 Route 9 (Canada Street) in Lake George. Doors open at 12:30 p.m. Drawings are 1 to 4 p.m. Organizers recommend attendees bring a face mask. Additional information about COVID-related safety measures will be available closer to the day of the event. Visit the Lake George Auxiliary 14th Annual Basket Day event page on Facebook for updates.
