Lake George reviving end-of-summer tradition with community clambake fundraiser

Fort William Henry, the board of Lake George Women in Need and members of the Lake George Volunteer Fire Department are firing up the grills for a community clambake and barbecue. The Lake George Community Day will be held, rain or shine, Sunday, Sept. 22, 1 – 5 p.m. at the Fort William Henry Hotel overlooking Lake George. The event is a revival of an end-of-summer community party that began in the 1970s.

On the menu are steamed clams, hamburgers, hot dogs, sausage and peppers, green salad, corn on the cob, roasted potatoes, and clam chowder with Lake George Baking Company cookies and treats for dessert. Entertainment will be provided by Bobby Dick and Suzie Q. There will be games and a bounce house for the kids and a silent auction to raise funds for the event’s beneficiary, Lake George Women in Need (WIN).

“The announcement of the revival of this great Lake George tradition brings many happy memories of hard work by every community member, wonderful food, lots of laughs and just plain great times.” — Mayor Bob Blais
