The Lake George Historical Association is presenting two programs this September, both which will allow visitors to experience the Lake George region’s history through stories of legendary characters and local mysteries.
On Friday, Sept. 25, at 7 p.m., historian and performer John Strough will bring Major Robert Rogers to life with a portrayal of the famed frontier soldier. Rogers raised and commanded Rogers’ Rangers, a provincial militia unit attached to the British Army during the French and Indian War. The Rangers were known for their wilderness survival skills and ability to carry out hazardous missions in severe weather over rough terrain.
Strough will appear in costume as Robert Rogers and tell the story of his military career and adventures. The public is invited to attend this free event.
The Lake George Historical Association will also continue its series of Ghost Tours each Saturday, September 26 through October 3. Tours will begin at 7:30 and 8:30 p.m. Guests will explore the Old County Courthouse and hear stories of paranormal activity observed over the years in the historic building. Tickets are $15 per person and will be available online at the LGHA website.
