Lake George Music Festival to celebrate opening with free Shepard Park concert

The Lake George Music Festival Symphony will perform with special guest ensemble ARKAI in Shepard Park, Wednesday, August 9, at 7:30 p.m. The free concert is presented in partnership with the Lake George Arts Project and is part of opening celebrations for the 2023 Festival of classical music.

 ARKAI is Philip Sheegog and Jonathan Miron, an electroacoustic duo that has performed at esteemed venues that include the MET, The U.S. Air Force Academy, Lincoln Center, and Carnegie Hall. Their electronic debut composition, “Letters from COVID”, was featured at TED@PMI with a global audience of over 30,000 people from 182 countries.

The Lake George Music Festival runs from August 6 through August 17 with performances at their base in the newly renovated Carriage House at Fort William Henry. The 2023 Festival will feature a series of chamber music concerts, Piano Mania!, described by the Festival as, “A fun afternoon piano recital featuring our exceptional roster of piano mentors, artists in residence, and fellows,” and a Grand Finale Symphony Orchestra concert featuring the world premiere performance of Sheridan Seyfried’s new Symphony and Stravinsky’s Firebird Suite conducted by Roger Kalia.

The Grand Finale concert will be held on Aug. 17 at 7:30 p.m. A fireworks show over Lake George will follow the concert at 9:30.

Festival tickets may be purchased online at the Lake George Music Festival website. Options include a Full Festival pass for $165, a 3-Concert pass for $59, or a single ticket purchased at the door priced at $10, $20, or $30, depending on the concert. Parking at the Carriage House is $10. Patrons may purchase a Festival Parking Pass for $55.
