The Lake George Volunteer Fire Department Auxiliary will hold its 19th Annual Basket Raffle fundraiser on Sunday, Nov. 1 at the Fort William Henry Hotel Conference Center, 48 Canada Street, Lake George. This is the Auxiliary’s largest fundraiser each year.
Auxiliary President Patty McKinney-Schuster says they expect to have more than 100 baskets this year. Local businesses and individuals have donated baskets filled with gift items, local products, gift cards and gift certificates. Many baskets in past Auxiliary basket raffles have had themes such as “a day at the beach” or “family movie night.”
Guests purchase a sheet of tickets for $10 and use the tickets to enter drawings for specific baskets. Doors to the basket raffle will open at 12:30 p.m., and the first basket raffle drawing will be held at 2 p.m. Food and beverages will be available for purchase.
Pre-admission tickets will be sold on Saturday, Oct. 24, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Lake George Firehouse on Ottawa Street.
The Auxiliary is also holding two raffles, one for a $500 Visa card and one for $150 in lottery tickets plus $100 cash. These raffle tickets are $5 each or five tickets for $20. Tickets may be purchased from Auxiliary members. Drawings for these raffles will be held at the Auxiliary Basket Raffle on Nov. 1. Ticket holders do not need to be present to win.
This year’s Auxiliary Basket Raffle is dedicated to the memory of Peg Earl, a charter member of the Auxiliary who died last year. McKinney-Schuster says Peg was a “dedicated member of the Auxiliary for over 80 years. She was a retired schoolteacher dedicated to the youth and the community of Lake George.”
