Live music returning to Wood Park Memorial Day Weekend 2021

Dave Ehmann, producer of the Adirondack Independence Music Festival, says last year “was a kick in the teeth.” The pandemic shut down the AIM Festival. Even events carefully planned to comply with state safety protocols were squashed when a downstate festival flaunted public health rules. This year, Ehmann is bringing back the music, and, in celebration of his 50th birthday, plans to make it the biggest year yet.

This morning, on WEQX radio, Ehmann announced the LGD/50 Concert Series. Dogs in a Pile will take the stage at Wood Park on Thursday, May 27 (Dave’s birthday) for a three-hour performance. They will return Friday, May 28 to open for Pink Talking Fish. The music will continue Saturday with Bad Fish and Sunday, May 30 with a band yet to be determined.

Tickets for the Thursday, Friday and Saturday shows are now available through the WEQX website. Tickets for Sunday will be available May 1. This is a Pod Style show. A ticket purchase allows up to 5 people in a 8.5 by 8.5 space on the festival grounds. All members of a pod must arrive together as a ticket may be scanned only once. Attendees will be required to show valid proof of vaccination or a negative COVID test taken within 72 hours of entry. Organizers encourage concert goers to download the New York Excelsior Pass to provide this proof.

Ehmann emphasizes that everyone needs to follow the safety protocols, whether they agree with them or not. These shows, he says, will be closely watched by health officials. A few people ignoring safety could ruin the season for everyone.

The Adirondack Independence Music Festival is scheduled to return to Wood park Sept. 3 -5, 2021.
