Battlefield Park Alliance is participating in Path Through History Weekend

The Lake George Battlefield Park Alliance will be conducting guided tours of the Park’s unique history as part of New York State’s spring Path Through History Weekend, which will be held June 18-19, 2022. The I LOVE NY Path Through History Weekend is a twice-yearly program that illuminates New York State history at historic sites across the state. The fall Path Through History Weekend will be held October 8 – 10, 2022.

Significant events in both the French and Indian War and the American Revolution took place on the Battlefield Park grounds as countries battled for control of North America. “New Yorkers often do not have a deep appreciation for the pivotal role Lake George and the surrounding region played in our early history. Path Through History Weekend allows us to showcase that history,” says Alliance Trustee Dr. Lyn Karig Hohmann who will be the primary lead for the tours.

The one-hour tours will begin at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 18, and at 1 p.m. Sunday, June 19 leaving from the Lake George Battlefield Park Visitor Interpretive Center, 75 Fort George Road, Lake George. The Visitors Center, which hosts many artifacts and exhibits that detail some of the important activities on and around the Park, will be open. Park visitors can learn about historic figures such as St. Isaac Jogues, Sir William Johnson, the Marquis de Montcalm, Henry Knox and Philip Schuyler. Neighboring Fort William Henry is also a Path Through History Weekend participant.

The tours and admission to the Interpretive Center are free. Prior registration for the tour is recommended by emailing info@lakegeorgebattlefield.org. Throughout the summer, the Lake George Battlefield Park Alliance offers tours of the grounds each Saturday at 11 a.m.

the Lake George Battlefield Park Alliance is a not-for-profit friends group that supports the State Department of Environmental Conservation in its management of the Park.
