Popular pub to feature an expanded ice bar this winter

Blocks of ice arrived this morning at the bottom of Kurosaka Lane in Lake George Village, and creation of what King Neptune’s Pub is calling “The Ice Lounge” is scheduled to begin tomorrow. Winters past, King Neptune’s has joined in the ice bar craze with a single bar on their lakeside deck. For 2017, they’ve decided to kick it up with an entire lounge. Tim O’Brien of Chainsaw Creations will be carving the ice this weekend.

Planned for this glittering venue are four ice tables, ice benches and ice sculptures. The Ice Lounge will be open to the public beginning Tuesday, Jan. 17 to coincide with the ECHL All-Star game, which will take place Jan. 18 at the Glens Falls Civic Center. Lake George is serving as host to ECHL fans, owners and players.

During this weekend’s construction of the Ice Lounge, Neptune’s invites people to stop by and watch the chainsaw master at work. O’Brien is the artist who transformed a dying maple tree into the towering bear that now stands guard in Shepard Park.

King Neptune’s Ice Lounge will be open during the pub’s operating hours. Guests will be offered daily specials and signature hot drinks.

King Neptune’s days of operation this winter:

  • Jan. 17 – 22
  • Jan. 26 – 29
  • Feb. 3 – 26

Correction: An earlier version of this article referred to the ECHL as the East Coast Hockey League. While this was the name of the League from its inception in 1988 through the end of the 2002-03 season, the name was changed to just ECHL on May 19, 2003 when the League welcomed seven expansion teams in the western United States.
