The Lake George Arts Project Summer Concert Series kicks off on Wednesday, July 1, with Eastbound Jesus. The performance was scheduled to be held on the Performance Stage in Shepard Park but will now take place at the Festival Commons in Wood Park, as construction of the Shepard Park stage is not yet complete.
Gates will open at the Festival Commons, 17 Elizabeth Little Boulevard, before the 7 p.m. start time. Admission is free. Metered parking is available on streets surrounding the festival grounds and in the public parking lot on Beach Road.
Guests are encouraged to bring lawn chairs or blankets for seating. The Arts Project advises everyone to bring drinking water as the forecast is for extremely warm weather, and there will not be vendors on site.
Contractors began construction of the new Shepard Park Performance Stage last fall, intending to complete the work by June to accommodate the start of summer shows. However, the work is not yet finished.
The Village of Lake George announced that the performance of the Glens Falls City Band planned for Shepard Park on Tuesday evening was cancelled, and the July 2 Community Band Concert in the park is also cancelled.
The Friday, July 3, Fridays at the Lake opening show with headliner New York Players has been rescheduled for August. Further event updates will be announced when they are available.
The Village Fireworks shows for July 2, 3, and 4 will go on as scheduled. Because traffic is expected to be heavy through the Village on Independence Day, Warren County Sheriff’s deputies will be monitoring and controlling traffic beginning in the afternoon on July 4. At 9 p.m., officers will restrict entry to certain roadways and take control of intersections.
Village of Lake George officials encourage people to arrive early in the day and plan to stay for a while after the fireworks to avoid gridlock.
