XII Sporks: New Lake George restaurant aims to please palates and pockets

What do you get when two families of six combine their diverse culinary talents to open a restaurant in Lake George Village? You get XII Sporks (12 Sporks.) The Furman, Reedy and Feulners all have decades of food service experience in New York’s Capital District area, and they have been scouting out restaurant locations for their own place for years.

“We looked at Troy, Albany, Cohoes,” says Misty Feulner, “but found nothing we could put our hearts into.”  Then, Feulner says, she saw a Facebook post advertising the sale of the former China Town restaurant in Lake George Village. She investigated further, and the whole group agreed the location was perfect. They open for breakfast and lunch Saturday, Oct. 12, and plan to add dinner hours at the end of February.

XII Sporks features American Cuisine with hearty breakfast items such as corned beef hash, biscuits and gravy and loaded omelets. They plan to have a pastry and coffee bar for those who want to grab something quick on the way to work. Lunch items include sandwiches and burgers, fish and chips, baked ziti, chili, mac and cheese, beef stew, soups and salads.

They begin breakfast service at 6 a.m. but plan to open at 2 a.m. through hunting season. This fall and winter, they will remain open until 2 p.m. Breakfast and lunch are offered all day. The restaurant will be closed on Wednesdays.

Several tables at XII Sporks overlook English Brook.
XII Sporks’ lunch menu includes Stromboli.

While Lake George is known for its tourism industry, Feulner explained that they want to cater to local residents as well, and they plan to do this by keeping prices affordable. “We want you to go out and feed the family without breaking the bank,” says Feulner.

The most expensive items on the menu are the Spork burger — a burger with bacon, sautéed onions and mushrooms topped with horseradish cheese for $13 and baked cod with rice and vegetables for $14. Children age 10 and younger may select from the $7-a-meal Junior Sporks menu.

XII Sporks offers take-out and plans to add delivery service within Lake George Village over the coming months. Reservations are not required but suggested for larger parties. XII Sporks is located at 462 Canada Street, Lake George, phone (518)685-5082.
